Research Hub & Open Source Archives

EKO HAITI Research Hub is a research and knowledge mobilization platform focused on creative, collaborative and interdisciplinary research and associated research-based learning. We aim to become the intellectual “home” for research about Haiti by creating and providing open access to the largest crowdsourced research archive dedicated to Haiti, by fostering cross-disciplinary research and innovation, and by providing support for progressive research in the form of contextual expertise and training.

ORAL HISTORIES

Oral histories are a powerful tool in developing historical understanding

Oral history offers an alternative to conventional history, filling gaps in traditional research with personal accounts of historically significant events or simply life in a specific place and time. Oral histories do more than provide charming details to dry historical accounts. In fact, oral histories help others recapture lived experiences that are not written down in traditional sources.

As an independent institute, we rely on crowdsourcing and donations to continue expanding the depth and scope of our archives.  Your contribution enable us to provide open access to a vast collection of ethnographic and research material which in turn aims at fostering further research and contribute to a better understanding of the country.

Des Recommandations du Groupe de Travail sur l’Éducation et la Formation (GTEF).

À la fin de 2007, le Président de la République a mis en place une Commission dénommée Groupe de Travail sur l’Éducation et la Formation (GTEF) formée de membres provenant de différents secteurs de la société haïtienne. Le mandat du GTEF consistait principalement à dégager les éléments consensuels permettant de proposer un Pacte National sur l’Education et la Formation (PANEF) destiné à orienter le système éducatif pour les 20 à 25 prochaines années. Suite au séisme dévastateur et meurtrier du 12 janvier 2010 où le secteur de l’éducation a été terriblement affecté, le mandat de la Commission a été élargi afin de prendre en compte les implications de cette catastrophe sur la reconstruction du système éducatif. Après la présentation en mai 2010 au Chef de l’État des premières conclusions du rapport du GTEF et d’une offre technique et financière de la Banque Interaméricaine de Développement (BID) aux fins de marquer son engagement dans la reconstruction du pays, incluant spécifiquement le secteur de l’éducation, le Président de la République m’a demandé de préparer le plan d’opérationnalisation des recommandations du GTEF. C’est ainsi que j’ai tout de suite constitué une Task Force tripartite (MENFP, GTEF et BID), dont le présent document est le résultat global de son travail.
