Ce rapport présente les résultats de l’Enquête Mortalité, Morbidité et Utilisation des Services
menée en Haïti entre septembre 2005 et juin 2006. Elle est la quatrième du genre réalisée au cours de ces
vingt dernières années. Commanditée par le Ministère de la Santé Publique et de la Population (MSPP),
elle a été réalisée par l’Institut Haïtien de l’Enfance (IHE) avec l’assistance technique de Macro
International Inc., société américaine en charge du programme international des Enquêtes
Démographiques et de Santé (DHS) dans le cadre d’un contrat passé avec le gouvernement américain.
L’EMMUS a été exécutée avec la collaboration de l’Institut Haïtien de Statistique (IHSI) pour la
constitution de la base de sondage et de l’Institut des Maladies Infectieuses et de la Santé de la
Reproduction (IMIS/GHESKIO), pour la réalisation des tests VIH. Elle a été accomplie grâce à l’appui
financier de l’Agence des Etats-Unis pour le Développement International (USAID), du Plan Présidentiel
d’Aide d’Urgence Contre le Sida (PEPFAR), des Centres de Contrôle des Maladies des Etats-Unis
(CDC), du Centre de Gestion des Fonds Locaux de la Coopération Canadienne (CGF/ACDI), de la
Fondation SOGEBANK/Fonds Mondial (FSGB/FM), du Fonds des Nations Unies pour l’Enfance
(UNICEF) et du Fonds des Nations Unies pour la Population (UNFPA).

Oral histories are a powerful tool in developing historical understanding
Oral history offers an alternative to conventional history, filling gaps in traditional research with personal accounts of historically significant events or simply life in a specific place and time. Oral histories do more than provide charming details to dry historical accounts. In fact, oral histories help others recapture lived experiences that are not written down in traditional sources.
